Flipping the Glass…

In this reflective piece, I explore how mindfulness and presence can transform leadership and team dynamics - even in high-pressure environments like the boardroom. Inspired by a conversation in Italy about “boardroom yoga,” this story reveals why timing, energy, and inner balance matter for leaders and teams alike. When organizations - non-profit or for-profit - cultivate practices that recharge and align body, heart, and mind, performance, creativity, and authentic leadership naturally follow.

“Focus on non-profits run by women.”

That was the answer to my question.

The past few days we spent in Italy.
Invited by my husband’s former boss.
He and his wife – loving, generous, smart –
rent a home there every year.
And they invite friends.

We visit small villages.
Wander quiet streets.
Share slow, nourishing meals.
Simply enjoying life.
Fully.

He serves on eight boards.
So I asked him about something that’s been alive in me.
Boardroom yoga.

He didn’t hesitate.
“People are far too stressed before a meeting,” he said.
“They’re only thinking about what they want to say.
It won’t work.
Unless maybe just before dinner, the evening before.”

And I get it.
It’s like trying to mix two different worlds.
Two opposing states of being.
And the boardroom is often a diverse mix of people.

But when it comes to management teams,
it’s a different story.
He agreed.
There’s more openness.
More willingness.

And timing is everything.
Maybe my idea – to offer it right before the meeting –
Is a bit too far-reaching.

After all,
I don’t do my own practice right before stepping into something big.
I start early.
I build the energy.
But that energy stays with me.

And just before my meetings or trainings,
I take two minutes.
A breath.
A reset.
And I act with presence.

If you haven’t experienced it,
you have no idea what’s available inside you.
Something you can access.
Especially when stress is peaking.

Now imagine your whole team could tap into that.
Not once.
Not occasionally.
But as a shared skill.

Whether you offer something like boardroom yoga
on the day of a meeting,
or during a team-building activity,
you’re showing your team that you care.

About their balance.
Their energy.
Their wellbeing.

Because everyone’s energy moves like an hourglass.
If you want results, creativity, performance –
you need to flip it.
You need to give space to recharge.

When was the last time you flipped the glass?

So why would I only focus on non-profits run by women?
What if balance, care, and inner leadership were no longer gendered –
but recognised as the very foundation of powerful leadership,
especially in for-profit spaces, where money and impact are on the line?

Curious how this could look inside your organisation?

Let’s explore what’s possible – together!

Ambitie of sabotage?

When the bar is set too high: ambition or self-sabotage?

Ambition is powerful — until it works against you.

In this blog, I explore what happens when we set the bar just a bit too high. How daily, soul-aligned commitment — combined with self-love — can be more effective than pushing through with force. It’s not about doing more, but about doing what feels true. Flexibly, consistently, lovingly.
